NEW SUBJECT, A QUESTION FOR FR. GREG OR OPINIONS FROM OTHER BLOGGERS WELCOME: Dress for women and teens during Mass and/or Adoration/Benediction........Shouldn't there be a dress code of some sort? I see many women/teens wearing skirts above the knees, really tight clothing, lower cut sweaters&shirts. I am not trying to sound critical! It seems to me that women need to know that men are very visually oriented, and it seems like immodest dress is inviting distraction(to say the least). I would be interested to hear what men have to say on this subject. Thanks.
I am female, but I totally agree with you on that one. Men are in fact very visual, that is a proven fact. I sometimes feel sorry for men because they are constantly being tempted or teased by woman every where they turn, unfortunatley even in church. And I'm not sure they even realize it. Come on fellow female Christians, let's be a little more sensitive and aware of our what we wear !!!
I totally agree with the modesty issue. I have heard people from other churches say Catholics can wear anything they want to church no matter how inappropriate because their church doesn't care! Those types of comments make it sound like we don't have any values or integrity!
hey im a female teen and this issue has definitely been brought to my attention since well i dont always dress in the most conservitive way. but after talking to some people about it and it being brought to my attention i thought about it and it definitely makes since that in church girls shouldnt be dressed as if they were on the beach trying to impress someone and since then every time i go to church i check what i am wearing and think about what others would think and if its modest enough i just hope other people start to do that too. great issue to bring up
to the female teen who is trying... Thank-you for making an effort in trying to decide if what you wear is appropriate for church or not. It is encouraging to hear and really says a lot for your character. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully more ladies (not just teens) will do the same.
Welcome! I'm Father Greg. This site is a forum for St. Francis parishioners to ask ANY (appropriate) questions about the Catholic faith, related or unrelated to my posts. All comments have to meet my approval before they are posted. I'm sorry for the approval process and subsequent delays, and I thank you for your patience and understanding. Thanks, and may you know the peace of Christ!
